The Pelican Case (known and sold under the name Peli Case in Europe) and Hardigg's Storm Case have merged to expand their dominance in the global protective carrying case arena. These former competitors now offer their innovative lines of first-class injection-molded cases under the corporate banner of Pelican Storm Case.

The Storm Case injection molded line of waterproof cases now offers 23 sizes maintaining the hard-earned reputation for a rugged case. The unique line of Storm Cases provides a safe transportable environment for sensitive, expensive or vital equipment, providing laptop cases, weapon cases , communication system cases and video and photography cases and more. The wide range of case sizes and shapes make the Storm Cases ideal for personal or professional use. Their dent- and shatter-resistant exteriors mean they can travel anywhere in the world.

Some of the range of Pelican Storm Cases feature sealed bearing wheels and extension handles for easy maneuvering, other smaller cases are hand-held only. All models are available with value-added options, such as custom foam, colors and labels. And since each case has survived Pelican's stringent and extreme testing requirements, they meet or exceed various military tests, ISO certifications and ATA approvals.

Storm Cases with our custom foam capabilities include closed-cell polyethylene and open-cell polyurethane for superior and flexible cushioning and protection. All our transport cases can be supplied with cubed foam along with anti static foam, conductive foam and heat and fire proof foams.

Storm Cases have double-layered, fully rubberized grip handles are comfortable for hands of all sizes along with moulded-in hasps for padlocks, as well as durable, resilient HPX high impact lightweight shells. Press-and-pull latches allow easy access to all models. Each Storm Case model has a permanently attached Vortex® valve, which automatically adjusts air pressure without letting in water or dust. For gear that demands a completely airtight case, the valve can be swapped out for a manual pressure relief valve that guarantees absolutely nothing escapes or gets in.

So the old Hardigg Case now known as Pelican Storm Case line defies extreme weather and travel turbulence. Sensitive personal gear and equipment now are safe from the consequences of environmental, transport and unexpected accidents. Each case comes with a lifetime guarantee.

Justin Case - No Hangover

Official government guidelines for having a really great festive and fun Christmas:

First off it's party time. Men are to have no more than three to four units a day of alcohol and women just two or three units. We suggest you issue each guest with an identity card and put a small tick in a box for each unit served, this way you will know when each person has reached their limit. Anyone found to have consumed more should be issued with an 'on the spot fine'
You can also check out the Alcohol Improvement Programme but i expect that it is a very misleading title!

Christmas Dinner also needs to be a carefully controlled affair.

Turkey
Basted turkeys pack in about 50 per cent more fat than unbasted allow around 210 calories per portion. Avoid the skin to save around 40 calories.

Roast potatoes
Each potato gives you 1.5g of fibre; 0.6mg of iron; and 7mg of vitamin C.
Three roast potatoes add up to 381 calories, so go steady. Cutting the potatoes into smaller chunks before roasting may help you to keep your portion size down.

Stuffing
There is little nutritional content in a packet stuffing that uses flavourings rather than fresh ingredients. Suggest making a brown rice and apricot stuffing for a healthier alternative.

Sausages wrapped in bacon
Roughly 9g of fat per serving, almost half of which is saturated, the type that raises bad cholesterol. Wrap half a rasher of lean back bacon around a reduced-fat sausage for a 40-calorie option.

Cranberry sauce
While cranberries can help to prevent urinary tract infections, this portion is too small to have any real effect. Suggest using cranberry jelly has less sugar and only 23 calories a spoonful.

Gravy
Most gravy provides you with about 0.6g-1g of blood pressure-raising salt per serving

Vegetables
Fill ya face - but supply nose pegs for guests

Dessert
Forget it!

Finally don't forget to send in ya monthly, no receipts required £399 (max £400 allowed), food allowance claim to the Fees Office

Our suggestion at this festive time is to make Christmas something special for you and your family, and if that means ignoring government guide lines so be it.

Best wishes on this Christmas day from all at Packhorse - have a good one.

Flight Cases - Not Just For Xmas

We all know the expression ‘a dog is for life, not just for Christmas’ but please remember over this festive season that a Packhorse flight case is not just for Christmas either.

People continue to buy a flight cases as gifts at this time of year, said Doug Hole of the Flight Case Alteration Centre (Center to all you Septic Tanks from across the pond - as my US spell checker keeps reminding me). We see the results of unwise flight case choices every year, and it often starts when someone decides to get a flight case as a present.

According to Mary Christmas of the BDFCA (Badly Designed Flight Case Association), cases bought as presents can be a recipe for disaster, with cases often neglected and owners left counting the cost of a badly chosen case. This is never a good idea because buying a flight case is a serious commitment. Flight cases can make a wonderful addition to your equipment protection, but people need to think carefully to avoid making mistakes which can prove very costly, both emotionally and financially, for flight cases and owners alike.

A good example of a couple of old friends - Eric Clapton has had these cases over 15 years and is still going strong, along with the cases, having been round the world together more times than your average Space Shuttle.

Based on years of experience, officer Annette Curtain of the UK branch of DUFF has identified the 3 most common reasons why people buy a flight case as a Christmas gift:

1. I want one. Oh please!
All parents understand pester power. Teenage children are very persuasive when they have their heart set on a flight case. It’s natural to want to please them but this should not cloud the realities of flight case ownership. And remember, children under 16 are not legally responsible for correctly designing a flight case - adults are.

2. It will be good protection for Grandad
Well, Grandad might not want the protection. Besides, the average lifespan of the flight case needs to be considered. Protective cases and 19" Racks can easily survive 15 years or more and some cases, such as touring wardrobes, surviving longer than the human race.

3. It’s so cute!
Cute! Flight cases are anything but cute (OK, well maybe the pink ones). More importantly, never forget that cases are essential for protection, not accessories. They need time and commitment in design as well as money spent on them. Flight case ownership involves costs and responsibilities such as neutering, vaccinations, worming and flea treatments - oops, sorry that's for xmas pets. Transport costs and flight case insurance need to be considered as well as the cost of storage when case owners go on holiday and have to leave the flight case behind.

According to Hazel Nutt of the Flight Case Owners Association potential case owners should ensure five key needs are met:

* A suitable case design
* A good build quality
* To offer excellent  protection
* To live a long and productive life
* To be protected from Heathrow Airport's world renown baggage handlers

Jo King added: Christmas is quite possibly the worse time to get a case as it’s so busy, noisy and surrounded by drunken office staff - well it is here!. You really need a quiet, calm time when you can dedicate yourself and your time to the needs of designing a new case and provide a less stressful environment for your new family member to settle into.

Thanking and wishing Eric along with all our customers, friends and foes a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year

Don't let Santa's Elf 'n' Safety get you down, have a good one and see you on the other side

19" Rack in Case

                19" Rack in Case

As the name suggests this method of case protection comprises of a stand-alone rack which is then protected within a separate case.

The inner rack sleeve is usually (any part of our cases are subject to customers preference or design) produced from high quality 18mm Birch plywood finished in a durable yet presentable painted finish. .

This inner rack is fitted with handles so it can be lifted from the outer case if and when required. Options for the inner rack include ventilation grills, rear access door to hide patch cabling and cable management slots. Company branding (see Storm Events ) can be incorporated with the customer name routed into the sides of the inner rack. Stacking feet can be fitted to the bottom and locating recesses in the top to aid secure stacking of the inner racks.

Rack in Case with lift out inner sleeve with 1200kg SWL 'flying points' to allow flying rack above stage etc

The outer cases is designed with a foam lined shallow base to allow easy removal of the inner rack and a larger foam lined top section which slides over the rack and is secured to the base for transit. This outer base is fitted with recessed catches and handle and usually castors, two of which can be with brakes if required.

This type of design has the advantage of being able to use the equipment either just by removing the case lid or, if required, by removing the rack from the case and being able to present the attractive appearance of the inner rack. Which ever way it is used your equipment always travels protected from impact and vibration.

Whilst we have many sizes available as standard although all Rack in Cases can be produced to customer requirements - please don't hesitate to call us with your particular needs.

The Foam Mount 19" Rack consists of an outer flight case, usually in the style of a double lid design allowing the front and rear lids.
The remaining outer centre section is foam lined with suitable foam for the 19" equipment weight that you wish to protect. Externally this outer flight case is fitted with our usual hardware including recessed catches and handles plus castors if required.

The inner plywood rack sleeve contains the rack rails that your 19" equipment is mounted on. This inner sleeve is permanently mounted within the foam lined outer case giving the inner sleeve and your equipment a cushioned protected environment.
