The old Packhorse saying 'You draw it - we'll make it' is just as relevant today as it was then. To enable efficient production of our custom built flight cases it is essential to carry a
huge stock of many types of hardware, Packhorse have tonnes, literally.
The fittings shown below are just an insight to a few of the very basic and commonly used hardware items used in our flight case construction
When needs arrive we also design and manufacture custom fittings and frameworks, and to date we have made everything our customers have drawn.

As standard, case corners are made from 2mm mild steel with a deep etched bright zinc plating (BZP). Other materials are available including stainless steel, aluminium and reinforced plastic. In addition to the BZP finish we also offer nickel plated, chrome plated and powder coated in a variety of colours.
Handling of custom built cases on a day to day basis is made easier and safer if the correct type of handles are used, with the correct amount and in the correct position.
Where possible handles are recessed within the case panel. To enable this handles are mounted on a recessed dish with a sprung loaded snap back grip. These are available in steel, aluminium and stainless steel with various finishes including BZP, chrome and powder coated. Below are a few of the most popular handles.
With so many castor types on offer choosing the best product for the job can be time consuming and confusing. Packhorse hold stocks of many castor types with various loading weights and sizes, a few of which are shown below. We are always be pleased to advise which is the best castor for your application.
Catches are not only used to secure the lids on cases but also for access panels and door openings. Usually catches are recessed into the panel so there are no external protrusions on the case itself. On small brief case sized case surface mount catches are used. Key lock and padlock versions are available on most types of catch. Materials include steel, aluminium and stainless steel. Finishes included BZP, black, chrome and powder coated
Piano hinge is used with various lid stays to retain the lids of a case upright. A recessed loop lid stay, stopping at approximately 93 degrees is used in conjunction with continuous piano hinge. A double strut style hinge can be used to save weight and cost in lighter applications. Materials and finishes as the butterfly catch.
