Creating a Bespoke Sticks Flight Case for the London Philharmonic Orchestra

London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) is one of five permanent symphony orchestras based in London, UK. It was founded by the conductors Sir Thomas Beecham and Malcolm Sargent in 1932.
The LPO approached us with a specific challenge: they needed some flight cases that could securely and conveniently transport their percussionists’ sticks. These delicate and varied instruments are essential to the orchestra’s performances, and they require a case that offers maximum protection and organisation.
With a clear understanding of the requirements, our design team got to work. We aimed to create a case that was robust yet lightweight, offering optimal protection without being cumbersome. We chose high-quality materials that would withstand the rigors of travel while maintaining a professional appearance suitable for such a renowned orchestra.
We incorporated custom foam inserts to securely hold the sticks in place, preventing any movement during transport. The interior was designed to be modular, allowing the LPO to reconfigure the layout as their needs changed. Additionally, we included a tray compartment for accessories, ensuring that everything the percussionists might need was within easy reach.
Once the design was finalised, our skilled manufacturing team brought the vision to life. Attention to detail was paramount; every cut and assembly process was meticulously executed to ensure the highest quality. We conducted rigorous testing to ensure that the case met our stringent standards for durability and protection.
